A little bit about how Maori welcome visitors to a place where your hosts are a whole tribe.  Ngai Tahu did just that today, an official welcome for all who have come to witness the biggest event for Maori Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Championships showcasing in the South Island.  This welcome acknowledges where everyone has come from … other tribal areas, other people from other countries and of course, those performing.  Today marks the official opening of Te Matatini and tomorrow will mark the first day of competitions.  Thousands will converge on Hagley Park in Christchurch, two weeks ago, Ngai Tahu welcomed the world to the opening of the World Cricket.  As Maori we are proud of our achievements and for those people who have worked tirelessly by putting us on the map !! Ka mau te wehi
